JOB SUMMARY
Operates as a liaison between business groups and IT, to determine appropriate IT-related solutions to business problems. Performs analysis, definition, development, deployment and maintenance activities. Ensures correct business functionality, requirements, and industry best practice is addressed within all IT applications.
The Application Developer is a member of the IT Department, reports to the Director, Information Technology and maintains a shared authority over any external Consultants.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-          Consults with business staff to develop understanding of the business process requirements. Understands the role of business systems, while providing ideas and recommendations during the systems lifecycle.
-          Develops detailed business user requirements, system and process documentation; workflow procedures, and data modeling. Writes RFPs for external suppliers where required.
-          Uses multiple programming languages, database applications and interfaces to develop, test and deploy business applications.
-          Ensures current and accurate system documentation, coordinates and or performs testing of system modifications, and develops, provides, or coordinates system training, educational tools and materials. 
-          Carries a support role, working with end users to resolve issues through collaboration; conducts research and analysis into the nature, effect and results of system problems or issues.
-          Acts as a liaison between IT and outside vendors as appropriate in support of the systems. Works together with Consultants and Project Managers to ensure business needs have been met.
-          Reviews and approves requested system changes, set-up or configuration and develops detailed specifications for implementation. Communicates system changes and issues all levels.
-          Monitors and audits the use and performance of the information systems; executes system quality control practices and procedures.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
-          Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, appropriate related discipline or commensurate experience.
-          Experience: Minimum of (3) years’ progressive experience with business operations and process development, systems development, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a manufacturing business a plus.
-       Technical Discipline: MS .Net programming, Visual Studio, SQL Server 2005 experience (administration, stored procedures, triggers, indexes, SSRS, SSIS and database design), Windows desktop and server management/setup (managing IIS, Active Directory, determining system requirements, etc), Microsoft Project and Sharepoint a plus.
 
-          Good communication skills, oral, written and listening, at all levels of the  organization.
-          Basic project management skills, including the ability to lead, facilitate, and organize.
-          Functional knowledge in front and back office business processes.
-          Strong technical aptitude and skills with desktop applications and data analysis tools.
-          Dedication and perseverance to meet the expectations and requirements of internal/external customers, with ability to gather pertinent information required for improvements in business and operations processes, products and services;.
-          Ability to solve difficult problems with effective IT solutions, applying the appropriate technology to meet the requirements; strong work ethic.
-          Pragmatic thinking and sensitivity towards balancing an ideal approach to that which is cost-effective
